Dermal Fillers
Over time a face loses its volume, causing skin to sag and lines to appear. You can revitalise your face and add volume with a dermal filler, ultimately making your skin look fresher and more youthful.
We use modern, well tested hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers to temporarily replace missing volume and hydrate the skin. The extra volume reduces lines and wrinkles whilst smoothing skin. Modern day dermal fillers have come along in leaps and bounds, there are now a wide variety of safe products that can be tailored to a specific problem.
Results are seen immediately although sometimes more than one procedure or treatment session is required to achieve the desired result. For this reason a complimentary consultation is essential to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.
Dermal fillers Treatment information
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring chemical found in our bodies. HA provides elasticity and volume to the skin, but with age, the levels of HA in the body decline. The decrease in HA can cause wrinkles, sagging and lack of suppleness in the skin. A dermal filler replaces lost HA whilst stimulating the skin to create new collagen and elastin.
After the first treatment, the amount of HA needed to gain the same effect is reduced. The product is resorbed over time but HA fillers generally last for 6-18 months depending on the particular product. Different fillers are used for different procedures and the choice will depend on what is most suitable for you.
A consultation will be carried out for patients interested in treatment with dermal fillers to check there are no medical issues that complicate or preclude treatment.
These treatments are not advised for pregnant and breast-feeding women or those with certain auto-immune problems or hypersensitivities.
They may not be suitable for vegans as whilst they are not derived from animals there has been animal testing at some point in the manufacture of the product.
A consultation is required to assess suitability for this treatment as well as to go over the risks and benefits in detail.
We only use products that have been rigorously tested to guarantee their safe and effective use over the longer term. Our preferred HA fillers are made by Teoxane.
The main risks of treatment are bruising, redness, swelling and discomfort which normally resolves in a few days time. Lips can take around 2 weeks for swelling to fully resolve.
Extremely rarely a serious complication of blood vessel occlusion may occur, which needs immediate attention. For this reason, you should only have these treatments performed by suitably trained clinicians.
As with any cosmetic treatment there may be some slight swelling, redness or bruising which will usually disappear within a few days. Following treatment, it is advised not to wear make-up for 12 hours or massage the area treated. It is also important to stay out of the sun and heat.
Full aftercare instructions will be given to you as part of the consultation.
The cost of HA fillers depend on the exact product used and amount required and we offer a wide range of fillers to suit different budgets. Please note we do not 'split' syringes as this is not in line with manufacturers guidelines and goes against safe clinical practice.
As a general rule the treatment costs for the following areas are:
Lips from £240
Cheeks from £300
Jawline from £300
Mouth to nose or chin areas from £300
Tear troughs £320
An exact cost can be provided at a consultation.

These images kindly supplied by TeoxaneUK show some of the areas that can be treated with dermal fillers
Lips
HA dermal fillers are highly effective at enhancing the smile by defining the border and fullness of the lips or for adding hydration without increasing volume. Smokers lines can also be dramatically reduced.
Nasoalbial folds
The depression that runs from the mouth to the nose can be lifted out with a dermal filler.
Tear troughs
The tear trough is the area under the eye which can start to look sunken and shadowy with age. Redensity [II] is a dermal filler product specifically designed to treat the delicate tear trough area with a mixture of hyaluronic acid, amino-acids, and minerals.
Cheeks
Dermal fillers can be used to add volume to the cheeks and redefine the face. Treatment in this area has the added benefit of naturally lifting the lower parts of the face and reducing lines from the mouth to nose and the mouth to chin.
Neck
Neck lines can be softened and skin quality improved with HA dermal filler
Marionette region
Jaw-line recontouring and revolumisation of the mouth to chin region can be achieved with the careful placement of dermal filler.
